    3. Beverly, I suggest you contact the Local History & Genealogy Department, Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave., N.W., Warren, OH 44483-4692. Genealogist Ms. Carol W. Bell heads the department. They have obituaries extracted from local newspapers, as well as newspapers on microfilm. If you don't know the exact date, you may be able to get a death record from the Trumbull County Health Department, 418 S. Main St. S.W., Warren, OH 44481. Then you will have the exact death when requesting an obituary. The last information I had was that the Genealogy Department of the library charged $1.00 per copy for obituaries, plus a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If you want to send a little more, I'm sure that would be appreciated. This fine genealogy library has much to offer researchers of Trumbull County people. I highly recommend it. 3. Charles, I'm not sure yet what street they lived on. I am researching Nora Philbin's family. Nora's sister was my great-grandmother. I just recently received my gg-grandmother's obituary and found that her two sisters, Nora and Mary Ellen, were living in Warren Ohio at the time of her death. I am just getting started researching the Warren connection. It sounds to me like you might be remembering the right people. My Philbins were Catholic. I don't know much about Jim Howe, so I can't say if he had a brother. When you say "I imagine that Nora was related to the other Philbins," are you referring to the Mary Ellen Philbin I listed in my previous e-mail, or were there other Philbins in the neighborhood? I've noticed that there were both Philbins and LYDENs in Warren, and I have ancestors by both names. I've wondered if other relatives moved from West Virginia to Warren. Thank you so much for responding to my posting. This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for when I posted to the list. I'd appreciate any help you can provide. Nancy "Charles J. 1. CRANDALL, Angeline Melissa
    2. At 15 years old or so CRANDALL, Angeline Melissa boarded a covered wagon and headed out west so she would not have to marry an older man. Her father was a Mormon,I believe. She married BRUNTY, John T. (from Ireland?) and it is believed that may have been in Susanville, Lassen Co., CA where she also gave birth to her son, BRUNTY, John F. b. 21/04/1865, however, there seem to be no records in Lassen Co. as it was a goldrush town. (The "F" in my Grandfather's name stands for Francisco (as in San Francisco), and I believe it's because John T. might have left Ireland during the potato family and gone straight for the gold. I have no idea where to start, but had such a situation in TN and it seemes as though everybody seemed to rally 'round me. Hope you will help too.

    3. Hi Walt, That was my territory when I was a paperboy. I think 112 would have been on the east side of the street, between 422 and 82 or E. Market St., in which case it may still be there. If I am wrong and it is north of 82, it would have been torn down. I no longer live in Warren, so I'm pretty sure you will get a more accurate answer soon, from a local resident. 1. Cold War Recognition Certificate
    2. Hi Rooters :) I have deleted the real names of the people involved in this exchange but because of questions raised on this list, I want to let you all know this is for real :D Sandisroot@aol.com "This is indeed real. Congress passed the law and we are the executive agent. All the services will foot part of the bill for FY98 and FY99 after which it is up to the Army to program funding. All the details are still a "work in progress" as to the requirements. It was obvious that it would be impossible to identify all people qualified to receive recognition and issue the certificates, so the approach is to make it available to the public. To keep from cheapening the recognition, we had to have some means to verify that the person requesting the certificate was deserving. Qualifying documents (copies only) were a way to do this. Once the certificate request has been verified, the document copy is destroyed. We are working out a method wherein organizations, such as yours, can come in with a bulk request. These details will be published on the Cold War homepage when a final decision is made. As with all seemingly "simple" programs this one is proving to be far from simple. Keep watching for further details. Harvey W. Several members have asked me to find information regarding the Cold War Recognition Certificate which will be available in April of this year. Questions are as follows. 1. Is this a bonafide certificate, or just a way for someone to get their hands on the DD 214 requested for processing. 2. Who is paying for the cost of this certificate, and mailing. Individuals are skeptical in mailing their DD 214 in the mail. Please help me to clarify these questions.

I am, however, very interested in your Esther Kelley and Steven LINSLEY. I have three Stephen LINSLEYs in my database, one of whom is a good candidate to be your Steven. Do you have any more information on him which would help us make a match? This is the information I have on my Stephen LINSLEY. I have not verified any of it. He was b. 17 Dec 1800, probably in or around Branford, CT. He was the son of Stephen Linsley and Elizabeth TYLER. He would have moved to Gustavus with his father probably around 1807 - 1810. He married an unknown woman and had four children, one of whom was named Alanson Linsley. He eventually settled in Galva, Henry Co., IL. Chuck Linsley linsley@best.com
