I have a copy of Brownwood Cemetery's headstone listing in my research papers as obtained from the Cemetery Records of Trumbull County Ohio, vol. 1, compiled by Grace Marvin Winnagle. I would be happy to do lookups for those who request them. Linda Borders
Thanks Linda, < It would be interesting if you found the following names: Ralph E. Crawford Ellen Y. Crawford Francis E. Crawford <Hope to hear from you. Doris M. From Florida
Hello Trumbull County Researchers! According to his death certificate Elmer Mottinger (d. 26 Jan 1989) was buried at Lordstown Cemetery. When I looked in the Trumbull County Cemetery book at my library (It may be an old copy), I did not find him or any Mottingers. Could anyone help me with this one? Are there any family members buried with him? Priscilla
Hi Mary Ann, Thank you so much for responding to my quest. I honestly don't know that you will find stones as I've not been able to locate anything but a newspaper obituary. I'm sure the man was buried someplace, however, so would like to locate where. Thought perhaps if I could locate the records of who purchased lots that would be of help. The person I'm attempting to locate was Luke Kendall. He died "at the home of Deacon Asa Smith" in Bloomfield on 25 August 1843. Asa was his son-in-law and lived in Bloomfield Center. I understand Brownwood Cemetery was established in 1836 so thought it probable that's where he was buried, but find nothing in the Trumbull County Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions 1800-1930 publication of Trumbull County's Genealogical Society (1983). Asa died in 1850 and is buried in Bloomfield Center. There is a Harry Kendall (no idea who he might have been) listed in the Belmont Cemetery, Sycamore Section (page 253) but that's it for Kendalls. Luke's son, Nathaniel Kendall, appears to have had land just north of Bloomfield Center at that time, and Luke and his wife were living near him at the time of the 1840 census. The 1850 census shows Luke's widow, Mercy, and Asa's widow, Olive Kendall Smith, still living in Bloomfield, so I feel relatively certain he was buried in Bloomfield. Would like to locate some record. While I'm here, do you know who to contact for 1820s records of the Congregational Church in Bristolville (Bristol Township)? Thanks a bunch for any help you might be able to provide. Carol Jo Luke and Mercy's gr, gr, gr grand-daughter
Hi, I am new to the list and am looking for information James DENSON (bc1790). I'm trying to figure out if he is the father of John Garret DENSON (b1827, Oh.) I don't have a county for John's or Jame's birth, but there is a James DENSON in the Trumball Co census for 1830. If anyone has any stray Denson's....please contact me. Do you ever feel like some of your ancestors were aliens???? Thanks, Gayle

Hello I am searching for the parents of my ggggrandfather, William COWDEN, b. 27 Sept. 1797 in Trumbull, Ohio m. Almira DAY abt.1824. He died in 24 Dec. 1844 in Biggsville, Henderson Co., Illinois. Does anyone have any connections? Marge Van Hemert Bonita, CA
Joani, According to Everton's Handy Book for Genealogists, the County Health Department has birth and death records. It's worth a try. I wrote to the Mahoning Co., OH. probate court for a birth certificate for my grandmother, Mary Ruth Ryser (19 July 1894). I received a "Sorry no record here" response. I'm wondering if I should write again and ask them to try a different name spelling. Or, did I write to the wrong probate court? She was supposed to be born in North Jackson, OH. Joani
Dear List and Susan: Thanks to all you great folks! Western Reserve would love to know the number of suggestions I have received to have me go there. Fact is, I have been there and join all of you in singing their praises. As I replied to one of the earlier suggestions, I would love to live under one of their tables and scurry about every night finding little morsels! My motive was to avoid a three hour drive from western PA into center city Cleveland if I could find the Cuyahoga County census somewhere closer to home. I am going to western PA to research my dad's family so it is like cheating to spend a day jaunting to Cleveland to satisfy my need to find out when my mother's father came to the US! He will have to wait his turn until next year unless I can find him closer to home! If I missed thanking anyone for suggestions, then let me thank you all now! These lists are populated by wonderfully helpful people! Anne in Hershey PA
Hi, Anne If you have not already been there, I would recommend Western Reserve Historical Society, 10825 East Boulevard, Cleveland, OH 44106-1777. Phone: 216.721.5722. They have all the census' as well as a huge amount of other Ohio records. Check for summer hours, though. I am looking for my grandfather who should be listed in the 1900, 1910 and/or 1920 census. Does anyone know if any one of these is available in the Youngstown area. From my atlas it looks like Youngstown is in Trumbull Co. I am headed to Crawford County in mid July and it would not be very far off the path. I am looking for James CODE living in Cleveland, married to Elizabeth. Children were 31 Jun 1898 Martha 25 Aug 1899 Leonard (died 1907) 20 Dec 1902 Adelbert 16 Dec 1904 William (died 1909) 30 Dec 1906 Lauretta I would appreciate any help on lookups or just information on where the Ohio census would be available. Anne Searer asearer@mindspring.com
Anne, Youngstown is in Mahoning County, not Trumbull. The Public Library of Youngstown/Mahoning County might have the censuses; their email address is <ygsOlib@winslo.ohio.gov>. Kathleen Marsh kmarsh@innet.com
Hi Anne, No Youngstown is not in Trumbull, it is in Mahoning Co. I used to live in Trumbull Co. I am also looking for anyone that might know the name Crawford. There were 7 men and 2 women, they all lived near or in Trumbull Co but from the Lisbon, Salineville, E. Liverpool area. Luck, Doris - Fla..
This is to the list owner.. I have found a booklet in my many gatherings thru out the years that contain the Cemetery Inscriptions, Ashtabula county, Ohio..It is taken from The Ashtabula County Genealogical Society, Henderson Library 54 E Jefferson St. Jefferson, Ohio 44047 Vol 1 1977.. Each person that sent the records in and or found them are given credit for their work... I don't know how to handle this... I won't do anything until I hear from the list owner. I can put them out on the list, little by little if you want me to.. Hello Wilma, I think the Genealogical Society that complied the Books might be a bit upset with us if we posted them to the list without first checking with them. The book is still under copyright, (due to its being pubilshed in 1977) and we can't copy it onto the list untill we get proper permission. The Genealogical Societies keep going by selling there books. You can how ever allow others to contact you in private and you can send reply's about spacific names, in private. This is usually acceptable to the GenSocieties. Thanks for the Generous offer! hope you can help many others with a lookup in the books. Marie, No, I have not been to Germany but I find it interesting that there is another named Barbara Faig. Was Faig her married surname? My husband would be interested in knowing where she and her husband were from because he knows little about his ancestors. Barbara
