Surnames: Brown Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZZB.2ACI/2676.1.1 Message Board Post: I have a feeling there may be a connection, but, not sure. I am going to see if I James has a will recorded in Trumbull Co. I cannot find him after the 1820 census. In the 1850 census there is a Hannah Brown living alone age 67 born about 1783 in Maryland. In 1860 she is 77 and born in New Jersey. My ggg grandfather Peter's mother was born New Jersey according to the 1880 census. I have been unable to find another female Brown who could have been old enough to be my Peter's mother in Mercer Co. or Trumbull Co. Hannah is living next door to the family of James K. Brown in Vernon Twp., Trumbull Co. and he could possibly be her son and perhaps the father could have been this particular James Brown (the elder). My Peter had a son James also. Just some ideas. I have been trying to figure this out for about 7 years now. Nothing really rings a bell with me, but, William and James could be the same two. Thank for your response. Pam

Let me know if anything matches: William Brown Sr. was born in PA probably prior to 1800. Wife's name unknown. William had several offspring including William Jr., Ebenezer, Montgomery and perhaps Samuel and Jane. William Sr.moved to Howland Twp. Trumbull Co. sometime prior to 1820 and purchased real estate from Jacob Anderson of Westmoreland Co. PA. William died in 1828 and his real estate was sold by his heirs around 1832 to a James Brown. Deeds were executed by William Jr., Montgomery, Ebenezer, and Jane T. Brown. Jane appears nowhere else in the record and it's unknown if she was a daughter or widow of William Sr. Perhaps William Sr. and James who bought the property were the brothers mentioned in your post. Thanks, and let me know if there is any connection.

Andrew, Richard, William and James Brown came to our area in 1800 and Andrew and Richard settled in Mercer Co. and James and William settled in Trumbull Co. James can be found in the 1820 census in Vernon Twp. I am interested in this individual and if anyone has any information regarding him I would appreciate anything. I suspect he may be my ggg grandfather Peter's father. Peter was born in 1802 (PA) I would expect his father (possibly James) would have been born 18-20 years prior. My ggg grandfather Peter married in Trumbull Co. in 1826 to Catherine/Katie Burns daughter of Michael Burns of the same area. All of Peter and Catherine's children were born in OH. Thanks Pam Pam

    1. Re: Almon Griffin & Hannah Lemon
    2. Hi: I have found a marriage record for Almon Griffin and Hannah Lemon in the "Trumbull County, Ohio Early Marriages, 1800 - 1865, page 24 stating that they were married 4-12-1820. I believe that means April 12, 1820 as I see in other entries the numbers in the middle of the entry go too high to be a month. I also found a listing in the "Index to the 1860 Federal Population Census of Ohio, Volume I, A-J" listed as "Alben" Griffin, pg. 28, "MNPE" which stands for Monroe County, Perry Twp. I don't know if this is him or not - just thought I would mention it. Hope this helps.
