I'm descended from Malcomb's son Henry. I was wondering if anyone in the family had any more details about Malcomb's service in the War of 1812. Do you know what battle he was in when he died? Also, I'm searching for a photo of Malcomb's son Henry. Don't suppose anyone out there has a photo of Henry, maybe with his brothers? I know it's a long shot, but I keep hoping....Ellen

Your Mark Gillam and my Ellen Gillam are connected to the Mathey family.I found the 1910 Census on Mark and Ellen Gillam, so I checked on Mark on the 1900 Census. They lived next door to Joseph Felix Mathey and Elizabeth Butler Mathey and their children. Ellen's maiden name is Mathey. I had tried to find Joseph F. Mathey through Ancestry.com but to no avail. I decided to check on Mark Gillam and glanced up the page and found a Ethel Mathey. I knew she was one of the Mathey girls. The rest of the family was on the previous page of the census. The name of Mathey was hard to decipher so the person did not list them on the main data for locating the family.. Mark is listed on Image # 10, 1900 Census for Newcastle,Lawrence, Pennsylvania. Page # 153B, lines # 57 & 58. Supervisor's District #19, Enumeration District # 113. Below Ethel Mathey, her great uncle Evan Thomas (Elizabeth Butler Mathey's brother) and Elizabeth's brother Evan (misspelled Eben) are listed ! as living with Joseph and Elizabeth Mathey . How about that as an extra find? Thank you for the info you sent about Mark and his family. Doris

    3. This may or may not be of help. I have a Jemima Hurd b. 1734 Woodbury, Litchfield Co., CT m. to Ebenezer Andrews b. 1729 Waterbury, New Haven Co., CT. They had Elisha Andrews b. 1778 Saratoga Co., NY d. Ashtabula Co., OH. A number of Andrews families moved to Ashtabula and Trumbull Co.'s during the early 1800's from New York with roots to CT. You might look in Chenango, Broome, Madison and Delaware Co.'s of NY for your Hurd's. I am not sure of the location of Saratoga Co., but it might be worth a look in that county also. I also have Hurd's from MA. My 4th great grandfather was living in Johnston when he died in the 1840's. He is not listed in the "book". There is a large area of the North Cemetery that is vacant, on the west side there are a number of broken markers or unreadable. The dates that I could make out were from the 1830's and 1840's. I think my ancestor is there, just not marked, If anyone ever runs into an Anson Root, he was a doctor, in that area, please let me know. As of now I am convinced that he is in the North Johnston cemetery and I will never know where.
