Recently, there have been several requests for Summit County, Ohio, Marriage License records. Because I work at Summit County Probate Court, I did offer to look up the first two. The problem is when you want copies of the record made and mailed to you - I have to keep e-mailing you back and forth to let you know what's there (or what isn't there), and then to see which kind of copy you want, etc.. I would like to post the following information in an effort to let everyone know what's available. First, the Summit County Probate Court Records Room is more than willing to make copies of any record for genealogists. One Certified Copy of a Marriage Abstract is $2.00, but regular copies are only five cents each. All marriages from the year 2000 to present are online. They are slowly entering the marriages prior to that time, but are only back to January, 1987, as of now. If you know the name(s) and approximate time, you may write to them at 209 South High Street, Akron, OH 44308; you may call them at 330.643.2352 Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon; or you may e-mail them at _recordsinfo@summitohioprobate.com_ (mailto:recordsinfo@summitohioprobate.com) . The Court's web site is _www.summitohioprobate.com_ (http://www.summitohioprobate.com) . Second, the Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society has a Marriage Index CD available for sale that covers all marriages from 1840 through 1900 (over 45,000 total entries) for only $15.00 plus $3.00 postage. Their web site is _www.acorn.net/gen_ (http://www.acorn.net/gen) , which shows their address, e-mail address, and other records available. Having said all that, if there's something specific I can do to help, I'd be glad to. Lois **************Start the year off right.
