    3. Hello All-- As an FYI, the Akron-Summit County Public Library' Special Collections Dept. is in the process of indexing obituaries appearing in the Akron Beacon Journal. The Beacon is the major newspaper in Summit Co., so chances are, if there was an obit, it will have appeared in the Beacon. Here is the link to that page: http://www.akronlibrary.org/internetresources/sc/obits.html Special Collections will look up an obit for you, whether or not it is in this database, as long as you can provide the complete death date. Also of note-- the library is in process of scanning city directories onto this website. City Directories provide not only address and phone information but also list place of occupation and spouse. When a child reached majority, they might also appear in the directory. There is an obit listed for Darrell Ruckman on this web page. Contact Special Collections for a copy at Special Collections Division Main Library 60 South High Street, Akron, OH 44326 (330) 643-9030 Correspondence Service In addition to providing telephone and in person reference services, the Special Collections Division also offers a correspondence service to patrons. You can submit your genealogy or local history questions via postal mail or electronic mail. All correspondence is answered within five weeks. Guidelines: Please include your full name and complete mailing address with each request. When requesting Ohio Death Certificates (1908-1953) please limit each request to five items and submit only two requests per month. Your request should include each person's name, date of death (at least the year) and if available the certificate number and county where the death occurred. The Ohio Historical Society offers an on-line Death Index at http://www.ohiohistory.com/dindex. Digital versions are available from familysearchlabs.org. No fees are required up front for research services. An invoice will be sent with any requested photocopies. Our fee schedule includes a $1.00 processing fee plus $.05 for each copy. Please be as specific as possible in your research request, including sources you have already consulted and what information you already have. Email us at speccollections@akronlibrary.org.
