My greatgrandmother was Maria Maurer and she and her husband Peter S. Maurer, they were cousins. They married on the boat. Her father Philip Jacob Maurer came over on the boat from Germany in 1857. Philips brother Johann Jacob Maurer came over also and settled in Ohio for a period of time but went back to the old country and took over the family homestead in Kleindenbundenbach and remained there the rest of his life.
