Amazing how many descendents of original settlers remained in the area. I was struck by the information that there were more male than female inmates, as that period of time as a whole, according to Women and Madness, by Phyllis Chesler, generally saw a larger population of women in institutions for poverty and illness, esp. mental illness. Jan J. L. Strange, BA, CCHT, RMT Ask me about hypnotherapy or Reiki for pain relief, energy healing, spiritual emergency, past life regression. **************The year's hottest artists on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards. Well you figure women had the same hormones and feelings and worries that we do now. They didn't have any thing over on us. Actually they had it worse. Infant mortality ......... lack of antibiotics or other medicines or treatments for things that are so treatable now..... no modern facilities, no modern furnaces...... bathrooms, fridges...... they led a very hard life. They were often beaten by their husbands or at the least were badly treated. There were no Dr. Phil's back then...... you did your duty and kept quiet. Stange isn't it? We have it much better today.... people to talk to, go to for help. Medicines for depression, etc...... I mean take a look at the prozac industry alone and the billions of dollars they are making......... and the women in prison for murder of their husbands...... and we have it BETTER! We have more resources for help..... then why is it out of control???? What did the women know back then that we don't know now that kept them from picking up a shot gun! Hmmm. Just talking to my self I guess.... sorry for getting off topic. Just kind of got me into a reflective mood.
