    3. We don't have a lot of information on the origins of my grandfather, Edwern "E." LaROCQUE. He thought that he was born in January 31, 1902 in Akron. His parents died when he was young (he did not specify when), and he went to live with an uncle. He did not know his parents names, so he was probably very young when they died. Apparently his uncle was not kind to him and he ran away from home to California when he was 14. He died December 29, 1965. I visited Akron 6 years ago, but did not discover anything. I looked through birth records, death records and city directories but could not find any reference to him or his parents. I have since continued the search from home (Auburn, CA), but I still haven't discovered anything. I have his SS card application, military records, etc. but haven't found any additional information. I've been trying to find where the name "Edwern" came from, but I haven't discovered anything. I have looked through the census for 1900 and 1910, but neither listed his name and since I don't know the names of his parents it's hard to know if I have the correct family. Any ideas would be appreciated. I did not know that some French people from Alsace France settled in Akron. Thanks. Thank you all for your ideas.
