    2. Barber founded Barberton because he was accused by the Summit County auditors of not paying enough taxes and he was the richest man. He paid $97 a year as compared to Seiberling who paid $2,286 and that was printed in the Akron Times in 1890. Akron fined Barber penalties for nonpayment of taxes and Barber blew his top and he founded Barberton and moved the Diamond Match Company there. He brought in large plants to Barberton (pottery, sewer pipes, cartridge, and, etc.). And built two hotels the National and the Barberton Inn and built a railroad. There was recently an article in the Akron Beacon Journal about Barberton.
