    1. Re: [OHSUMMIT-L] KEPLER
    2. In the Akron Summit County Book I know that you didn't ask for a lookup but in the index there was a KEPLER'S Hotel. p 550. The paragraph mainly talks about Young's Hotel. It was a very popular hotel. Then there were that long-famous KEPLER'S Hotel at Turkeyfoot Lake and Mellinger's Tavern. With the exception of Young's (it was still operating at that time ca 1960's) all the other places have closed or passed into other hands. But they will be long remembered by Akronites. (Incidentally I have two old postcards of Young's Hotel the cars in them look like late 1940s or early 1950s.) Since this mentions Young's when I was working at Graphic Systems on E. Exchange St., we had a copier and a man came in and was copying articles and he said that he was buying Young's Restaurant (ca 1960's) but unfortunately later on (don't remember the date) he was at a restaurant and a man came in with a gun to kill his wife and the man buying the hotel stepped in front of the woman (a stranger) and he was killed. So sad he was so enthusiastic about the sale. He also said that he ran a newspaper stand. Speaking of Hotel's does anyone remember or even have a postcard of the Hotel Thomas. Or know anything about the Hotel. It was run by a Hetzel family.
