Probate records should go back to 1846 when Summit Co. was formed. As for birth records, unless you can find a family Bible or an announcement in a local newspaper, you are out of luck. Ohio did not require birth records until after 1900, though a law was passed to record them in the 1880s but with no penalties . Roger Rhoads

Did you try church records? Sometimes the records only gave the date of the christening, but I have found some old church records with both the baptismal date and the birth date. Most of the time the records revealed not only the names of the parents, but also the god-parents. The god-parents were often relatives.
