Murray Viola I. Murray, 92, of Akron, passed away Jan. 27 at Barberton Citizens Hospital, following a short illness. She was born in Massillon, and was a lifetime resident of the area. She was a charter member of the Lakeview Church of Christ, a charter member and lifetime member of the Lakeview PTA, also a member of the Lakes Chapter O.E.S 567, the Summit Carnation Club Craft 158, Akron, Ohio, the N.A.R.F.E. Chapter 0168, Happy Hearts Club of Channelwood Circle, the Grandmothers Club and the A.A.R.P. Preceded in death by husband, John K. Sr., she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Martha of Akron; son, John (Jack) of Akron; daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Bob Powell of Akron; brother, Walter Nonamaker of Akron; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Calling hours Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 1446 S. Main St., where Lakes Chapter O.E.S. 567 will meet at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, 1 p.m., at the Lakeview Church of Christ, 4613 S. Main St., Pastor Darryl Moulder officiating. Murray Walter E. Murray, 64, of Springfield Twp., passed away August 29 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Portage Lakes and was a lifetime resident of the area. He attended the Lakeview Church of Christ, and was a Teamster, retiring after 25 years of service. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Airport Post 8975 and the Orrville Farmers & Sportsmen League of Wayne County. He is survived by wife, Martha; sons, Bill and Walter; daughter, Jeanne; brother, Jack; sister, Frances Powell, all of Akron; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral service TODAY, 10:30 a.m. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 1446 S. Main St., Chaplain Myron K. Kumm officiating, and where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Interment Mt.
