The Akron Beacon Journal microfilm is at the library. There are two sets. A set in audio-visual dept. and a set in genealogy dept. They have the ABJ newspaper, under various names, 1841 to present. They have indices to newspapers and obituaries for scattered years; some on microfilm and some in book form. They also have Akron City Directories; scattered years; 1868 to present. Other info at the library: Summit Co. Wills and Estate Packets & Indices, 1840-1957, microfilm. Summit Co. Birth and Death Index, 1868-1908, microfilm. Summit Co. Marriage Records, with indices, 1865-1922, microfilm. Ohio Census microfilm--entire OHIO collection from 1820-1920--including 1890 special Veterans Census. Library address: Akron-Summit Co. Public Library 1040 E. Tallmadge Ave. Akron, OH 44310 Tel: 330-643-9000 The Summit Co. Historical Society has nothing. The county archival materials are housed at the University of Akron--Archival Services in the Old Polsky Building. 225 S. Main St. Akron, OH 44325-1702 Tel: 330-972-7670 There are also records at Akron U from Ashland, Coshocton, Holmes, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties.
