Does anyone have access ( or can do a lookup) to phone directories for 1920 Akron area. My grandfathers birth record shows that the year he was born (1920) residence was Laffer St in Akron. ( But the father states at the bottom that the address for Physician or midwife was 564 Kiping St.) I don't actually know if he was born at home or not. But anyhow I have not been able to find this family in the Census at all. I searched 1920 and 1930 with no success. Years back I went to the library at the University of Akron but they didn't have those years for phonebooks they told me Akron Public Library but I was unable to make it there. Name I am looking for is KERECMAN, John, Julia. give or take 1920 living in the Akron area. I have been able to pick them up in a directory in about 1953 living in I believe Freedom near Ravenna. Hello, the Akron-Summit County Library has several directories. I've simply called them, requested the year and family I need, and if they have it, they can either mail the page right out, or scan it, and e-mail it to you. I just recieved my family's page from the 1922 directory. Here is their phone number. When you call, ask to speak to the Special Collections Department. That department has told me you can also request these types of things online from their site, but I haven't needed anything else since my 1922 city directory. But I have recieved pages from the Akron City Directories both by e-mail and postal mail from them here in California. Good luck.
