Dear List, Does anyone know if Summit Co. had a penitentiary during the early 1900s? If so, does anyone know the area boundaries so I can scour the census documents at ancestry.com? I'm still hunting my missing maternal grandfather, Harold Lee Bishop. I found a penitentiary listed for the 1930 Census in Madison Co., Ohio, checked their census pages for grandpa - no luck. I was so desperate while searching the Union Co. area (where he vanished from) that I broke down and checked the census records for the Ohio State Reformatory For Women in Marysville - wildly thinking that grandfather could have gone to work there as a maintenance, painter or janitorial person - while perhaps running & hiding from the "mob".
