Thank you, Judy, for the info. I was, however, looking for the period of the 1880's. I have received help in this. I do appreciate your response ! Author: wilfred57 Surnames: Viers,Davis, Limric Strole Classification: lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.summit/5028/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I need the marriage license for Mattie Ward Strole and Paul Viers. She had a child Viola that was born in June 1908 and Mattie was born Sept 14, 1890, so I assume she must have married between 1905 and 1908. I would also like her marriage license to Aaron Bidykoffer who she was married to when she died at the age of 28 on April 27, 1919. I have a picture of her as Mattie Davis, so possibly she was married to a man named Davis between Mr. Viers and Mr. Bidykoffer. She lived at 271 Union Street in Cuyahoga Falls when she died. Mattie's daughter Viola May Viers was married to Victor Limric when she died at the age of 24 on 4 January 1933 and they lived in Springfield, Summit County, Ohio. I suspect she married between 1924 and 1933. She died from complications of a miscarriage. This is probably asking a lot but I wish to find her marriage license too in the hopes that I can find family to provide them copies of Mattie and Viola that we just found in my mother's closet. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Oh can you tell us more about that website? What sort of genealogical stuff do they offer? I have lots of work to do in various parts of Ohio--most of it pre-1850. It might be worth a membership for me and if so I'd be happy to do your downloads. I'm sorry- after i posted i realized i should have been a bit more detailed--it is not a genealogical website per se- it is affilitaed with the Akron Beacon Journal newspaper- it is an online to them--it does have records now of old newspapers- ie Summit county Beacon which was published on Wednsdays in the 1800's! Robin- what parts of Ohio are you looking for info in? I am out in Sandusky County now...maybe i can reciprocate? Well you figure women had the same hormones and feelings and worries that we do now. They didn't have any thing over on us. Actually they had it worse. Infant mortality ......... lack of antibiotics or other medicines or treatments for things that are so treatable now..... no modern facilities, no modern furnaces...... bathrooms, fridges...... they led a very hard life. They were often beaten by their husbands or at the least were badly treated. There were no Dr. Phil's back then...... you did your duty and kept quiet. Stange isn't it? We have it much better today.... people to talk to, go to for help. Medicines for depression, etc...... I mean take a look at the prozac industry alone and the billions of dollars they are making......... and the women in prison for murder of their husbands...... and we have it BETTER! We have more resources for help..... then why is it out of control???? What did the women know back then that we don't know now that kept them from picking up a shot gun! Hmmm. Just talking to my self I guess.... sorry for getting off topic. Just kind of got me into a reflective mood.
