    1. Re: [OHSUMMIT] Hawthornden State Hospital, Northfield OH - records or death information of patient - HELP!
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Wyalusingtim Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.summit/1835.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hawthornden State Hospital was also a mental hosital. Since it is closed (1993?) you can call the state directory for Ohio Government and they can put you intouch with the State Department on Mental Health who has a person who can get microfiche records about patients who were there at Hawthornden. If he died there you can provide that date to the newspapers for summitt county - Northfield Township and Macedonia, Ohio, who may have posted a death notice about him. Also the archivist at mental health may have some suggestions. There is the possibility of contacting one of the historical groups for the area who may have additional information about how persons were buried there, etc. Good luck, I hope that you find what you are looking for. If he was a veteran and buried in a national park the Department of Veterans Affairs Web site has a search engine that can locate him if he is buried in a national park. Good luck. Author: rudyj58 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.summit/5087/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm doing local history research on the Middlebury area of Akron. I've got all the basic facts about early settlement and the businesses that have come... and gone over the past 200 years. (for those who don't know, Middlebury was here before Akron) What I am lacking is recent history, but more, personal stories from those who grew up and/or worked in the neighborhood. If this describes you or someone you know, I would love to hear your stories. And pictures would be very welcome and helpful. Thanks, Rodney D. The George Kapity I'm thinking of had several brothers (Dan and Nicholas that I know of) and two sisters, Edith and Dorothy. Edith would have been my grandmother on my father's side. We know very little of my grandmother's family, other than that they lived on a farm near Akron, and I think that her father's name was Samuel. Another site to try for death certs is http://search.labs.familysearch.org. You have to register and wait for confirmation but it is a free site. The actual death certs from 1908-1953 is online there. Haven't found many from 1908 but the rest of the years are fine. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
