Well, how about that. My gr-gr-parents David and Mary Livingston McBride were married in Paisley Renfrewshire, Scotland which is near Glasgow and their marriage certificate stated the occupations and names of the parents James and Susannah Robinson and John and Sarah Torrens Livingston. Thanks I'll give it a try.
The microfilm of the newspapers is at the Akron Public Library and they have microfilm readers. I found lots of info some of the years are indexed but would have to go to the library and check out what years. I know I researched after 1888 when the family arrived. There's lots of stuff that the family never told you. Good luck researching.

Rick, Can you answer a question for me? I am tracking a Braun/Brown family that lived in Copley. Are there cemeteries around you? I think it could be possible you have had a password steal virus. I had a virus once from a known e-mail address but was not sent by the person. Usually when you try to respond to a virus e-mail address it comes back like that. I have had some suspicious e-mails that are genealogy related in the subject line, that looked like they may contain a virus. When I was infected I called AOL within a half hour and had my password removed so no one would get it from my mail. Hope you don't have that problem, Good Luck Rick In Copley
The Akron Beacon Journal microfilm is at the library. There are two sets. A set in audio-visual dept. and a set in genealogy dept. They have the ABJ newspaper, under various names, 1841 to present. They have indices to newspapers and obituaries for scattered years; some on microfilm and some in book form. They also have Akron City Directories; scattered years; 1868 to present. Other info at the library: Summit Co. Wills and Estate Packets & Indices, 1840-1957, microfilm. Summit Co. Birth and Death Index, 1868-1908, microfilm. Summit Co. Marriage Records, with indices, 1865-1922, microfilm. Ohio Census microfilm--entire OHIO collection from 1820-1920--including 1890 special Veterans Census. Library address: Akron-Summit Co. Public Library 1040 E. Tallmadge Ave. Akron, OH 44310 Tel: 330-643-9000 The Summit Co. Historical Society has nothing. The county archival materials are housed at the University of Akron--Archival Services in the Old Polsky Building. 225 S. Thanks Rick, I am waiting to hear back from earthlink. This is so infuriating. I have Norton antivirus running, and have since I got this computer last year. I get all of the updates, may it is just not enough. Thanks for the help. Joyce near Seattle
Hi, I have not been on my computer much lately, but, the other morning I rec'd. the following email. I have removed two lines of this email as contained my personal "password" that I use for my genealogy sites. The headers read FROM: Angie's Genealogy SUBJECT:Free Genealogy Lookup Site (50 Million Names) Site location:: http://12.237.150.30 Send reply messages through my web site, not this email address. * DELETED 2 LINES < Do not enter the "/" and make sure you enter the above separately. Example: (johndoe@mail.com/pswd1/1012345678) You would enter 1012345678 when it ask for your confirmation number, enter johndow@mail.com at the enter email address, and enter pswd1 at the enter password. If you have trouble with the login, go back to the site location above and hit the troubleshooting button. Please keep this email for a record of your login. **** END **** I tried replying to this message, asking where/how this person acquired this information. The email came back to me as undeliverable. As this had my personal password on it, I have to believe that some "reputable"? on-line site is selling/giving away our email addresses and passwords. Does anyone know who I can contact about this? Does anyone use this site? Thanks, Joyce

Jacquie - I was in Akron at the library's temp quarters last July, and it was still in upheaval. However, I sent them a letter (twice) requesting obits for my family and found them to be very helpful. They provided the information by return mail within 4 weeks. They also now have an e-mail address for a research librarian. You might want to try them again as you probably hit them during their worst time. Hi Peggy, I've contacted the library. It was the Akron Beacon Journal itself that I tried and wasn't met with interest in my investigation, because the info I was looking for concerned a family "story" I'd been told and thought something might have been published about an abandoned vehicle and a person being missing. As for the phone/address directories, I'm hunting a specific address for a specific time frame for my g-grandfather Howard E. Bishop so I can do (an expensive) census hunt. But perhaps now with the library being put back together, I will have to ask for research help into articles relating to published disappearances of the 1930s. Do you have the email addie for the research librarian? Thanks for the info. I have a probably dumb question. Did you find the newspaper microfilm at the library or did you have to go to the newspaper its self? Pat Cartiff (PLancas@aol.com)
Could someone answer that on this page as I too need some obits.
