    1. Re: [OHSUMMIT-L] Akron Book
    2. Akron and Summit County Book mainly concentrates on businessmen and local history. As I leaf through to answer request for lookups, I am amazed at the amount of history of Akron that is in the book.

    3. 04-10-02 Hello Paul, My mother, Dorothy Mae Lechleitner, attended Betty Jane School the first few years it was open. I'm sure her younger sister Phyllis Lechleitner attended also; she would have been two years behind. I'm not sure about mom's older sister Louise Lechleitner - she was one year older than mom, and the information I have starts with my mother. I have the class portrait of her second grade class with Mrs. Thomas as teacher. Mom was thoughtful enough to write most of the names down on the back of the frame. Yes, the picture is still in the original frame! I'll be happy to forward this picture by email should you like. Update on the sisters: Louise passed away last year, and Phyllis lives in Florida. My mom Dorothy Lechleitner is in an Alzheimer's home in Stow, Ohio. Sincerely, Shelley Woods slwoods@anv.net

    3. Hello Again, I'm in the process of transcribing the contact catalogue of a Betty Jane Grade School (Darrow Rd. & Newton Street in East Akron, Ohio) Reunion (1988?...the history lists the Principals and teachers from 1937 to "1988 to the present"...so it may be 1989). I will post the completed catalogue URL when I am finished transcribing it. In the mean time, the completed alphabetical listing of the Alumni. ADAMS through YANKULOV is online now. Though the school opened in 1927, the earliest contact sheet date is 1929...the latest 1969. I will be including teachers, as well, in the completed version. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~paroth/MATERNAL/LOCAL_HISTORIES/B.J.Reunion_Alpha.html The completed version will include a history of the school plus rememberances of many of the Alumni. I have purposely deleted addresses and phone numbers, as I do not know how many of the Alumni are still living. If anyone needs to contact any of these people, I will be glad to phone them to see if they are still around and give them your email addresses. Regards, Paul A. Roth

    2. Thanks for the hint is it the books from the Akron Beacon Journal in the files in the Genealogy section is where I would find the info. The problem is I know he died but I don't know when he died. But, before I pursue I will check the Akron City Directory for Edward and Gertrude Halter Hetzel. If he is gone Gertrude will be listed as widow of Edward.
