I have many relatives who lived in "Millheim" -- what surnames are you researching? Millheim is/was in the current town of Uniontown, Ohio. Perhaps someone else will know more about the dimensions of "Millheim" and if there was a "center". My relatives lived in the area of what is now the Millheim UCC Church (formerly German Reformed) on Myersville Rd., near Killian Road. If you look up that intersection on MapQuest, you can search around the area. I found roads named after all my ancestors there! If your ancestors were Reformed Church, there is a very good chance that we are related.
I need help in finding (if there is a way) for the # of the ennumeration district for the intersection of Beaver St & Crouse St. in Akron for 1900. If anyone can help so I do not have to go through every district on Ancestory census. Thanks in advance. Best Regards Bev

My paternal grandmother Blanche Edna BOSWORTH, stated on her marriage cert. to my grandfather, Walter Charles LUCAS, that she had never been married before. Yet, she also stated her father's name was Charles WARREN, when he father's name was Harris Hezekiah BOSWORTH. I thought perhaps she, or her mother, Julia had married a Charles Warren, and did not tell anyone. Blanches daughter, my Aunt swears she was shown pictures of WARREN children as a youngster (80 years ago), and told they were her siblings! Thanks anyway, I appreciate your time and effort. Take care and be safe. Joyce

Blanche Edna went by many, many names, so they may not be the ones you would recognize. This would have been prior to 1919. Thanks for any info. Joyce

Carl C. Upstate NY
I'll type verbatim what the sentence said: "Carl Ferdinand Beck was born in Akron, June 8, 1885, a son of John Martin and Kate J. (Buchtel) Beck (q.v.)" You are right on the button as they do have several pages devoted to the wife's maiden name Buchtel in the book. There is a high school named Buchtel H. S. Amazing I have never seen that before nor do I ever remember learning about that in High School. If I was a teacher I would give you an A plus. Thanks ever.
In the Akron-Summit Book it mentions a Theobold Baughman
In the Akron Summit County Book I know that you didn't ask for a lookup but in the index there was a KEPLER'S Hotel. p 550. The paragraph mainly talks about Young's Hotel. It was a very popular hotel. Then there were that long-famous KEPLER'S Hotel at Turkeyfoot Lake and Mellinger's Tavern. With the exception of Young's (it was still operating at that time ca 1960's) all the other places have closed or passed into other hands. But they will be long remembered by Akronites. (Incidentally I have two old postcards of Young's Hotel the cars in them look like late 1940s or early 1950s.) Since this mentions Young's when I was working at Graphic Systems on E. Exchange St., we had a copier and a man came in and was copying articles and he said that he was buying Young's Restaurant (ca 1960's) but unfortunately later on (don't remember the date) he was at a restaurant and a man came in with a gun to kill his wife and the man buying the hotel stepped in front of the woman (a stranger) and he was killed. So sad he was so enthusiastic about the sale. He also said that he ran a newspaper stand. Speaking of Hotel's does anyone remember or even have a postcard of the Hotel Thomas. Or know anything about the Hotel. It was run by a Hetzel family.
Does anyone know what the abbreviation is that I just found in a book? (q.v.) a name of a person precedes it. Thanks
Is the person whose name precedes it an author of another book which has been discussed? q.v. stands for two Latin words--I just went to look them up and can't find them in any dictionary, so this is from memory. The words are something like "qui vide", and in English they mean "which see". So if the book you're reading says something like "...is found in [author name], q.v." I think it is suggesting you look up the subject in this author's book (" ... is found in [author name], which see").
