Dear Paul, Yes, I was referring to the Hotel Anthony Wayne in downtown Akron. I grew up in Akron, and worked for a few years at General Hospital. I thought I remembered a sign, years ago, downtown, I think around O'Neil's some where.....But anyway a couple years ago, I was at an antiques auction, and saw a sign, an old metal one, blue background with white lettering, that said (daa,.. the whole point of the story) HOTEL ANTHONY WAYNE so... I bought it. I had never been there, and just thought I remembered it in Akron....just wondered about its history, and if it still existed. I did try looking in the yellow pages, but didn't see it. Thanks for putting up with my rambling, Becky

Becky, The Anthony Wayne Hotel was on Main St between Exchange and State St. It has been torn down and replaced with our new Minor League baselball field. Bev
If memory serves me right, it used to be at the corner of Main and Market. It was torn down. Hi Becky, Seems to me there was (is?) a Anthony Wayne Hotel in downtown Akron. Is that the one to which you are referring? I'm not sure if it is still in operation. Akron has, unfortunately, demolished many of it's historic downtown sites in the name of "Progress"... I live in West Akron and haven't been to the downtown area in quite a while. Be glad to drive by and see if it's still there. The main library should have info abt. it. Regards, Paul

The small carriage barn is pre-civil war and best I can come up with is the house was built in 1873 though I don't know by who...I find the whole area here wonderful and it saddens me that there is little or no memory of it or the people...have shared little bits of info with my 2 neighbors but none of us really have any comprehensive knowledge of the history. The church you mentioned is about 1/4 mile north of me and I found a little info there. Millheim means "Mill Home" .....I'm becoming familiar with the cemetery residents, but they're not sharing their info :^)...would appreciate anything that you can add about the area and resi! dents.
