Denise, I have not heard of an Everett High School in Summit County but it's possible that the team name Everett came from the Village of Everett that is in the Southwest corner of Boston Township. The school in Everett only went to the eighth grade. Do you know where he lived at that time? Pete Schueler
There is an ancestral file submitted by Mrs. Janet L. deVries of Akron, Ohio. She is a sister of Clara Megert. Clara married William G. Immel at Canal Dover 7 Sept 1910. They had no children and William died before Clara. An Immel researcher received some information from Mrs. deVries taken from the Immel family bible. I would like to try and find this bible. Are there any people on the list connected to Clara Megert or Janet deVries? Am wondering if some of the Immel family memorabilia ended up with Clara's family. I found two people on switchboard.com named deVries in Akron. I talked with one this morning and he is not related to Janet deVries. Did not talk to the other deVries and left a message. Anyone with any information, would you please contact me? Thank you. The front of the jersey has "Everett" and I was wondering if that was the high school name or possibly the team name? The photo was taken in 1906. His name was Ernest Clyde Schooler. I'm guessing they would have been in Akron after 1917. Thank you....
Thanks to the report on the where the Anthony Wayne Hotel was and what happened to it. I must have been looking at another building during my 6 hours walk around Akron. I remember all those stores that are gone now. But, I'd say that building a stadium in the heart of downtown is great.
Mad Anthony Wayne did that ring a bell. Never thought a hotel would be named after a soldier. Usually monuments. It would be interesting to find more about him. Nothing on him in the Akron Summit Book. Thanks

Maybe this will help pinpoint the location of the hotel. From the Akron Aeros Website http://www.akronaeros.com/info-history.html Akron Aeros/Canal Park Milestones January 21, 1996 The demolition phase is in full force as the historic Anthony Wayne Hotel requires three implosion attempts before crashing to the ground. In 1794 Anthony Wayne won the battle of Fallen Timbers, Indian resistance was broken, and the development of the interior of the Ohio country became possible. (page 275 of the "Foundations of Ohio" Vol. 1 "History of The State of Ohio" by the Ohio Historical Society.) There are about 30 more references to Anthony Wayne in the same chapter (5) of that volume.
Wow!! You are really pushing the limits of memory here. I remember General "Mad" Anthony Wayne from my Ohio history course in 7th grade! I don't remember much else save I think he had something to do with settling the Western Reserve. I am sure there is someone who is far more knowledgeable than I who will fill in the blanks for both of us. Janie Still missing Ohio
I don't remember it being on the corner I will have to go to my post card collection and find out but I'm sure it was (The Anthony Wayne Hotel) on S. Main near E. Exchange St. Do you remember the restaurant that was there it was owned by two men. And they lived above the restaurant.
Yes, I think that I have an old postcard of the hotel. During my trek around downtown Akron I think that it still is. As there was a restaurant that we used to go to for lunch and I noticed that the building is still there. Whether the restaurant was connected to the hotel I don't know. The Hotel is/was located on S. Main St. by E. Exchange St. In the 1960s It's not in the Akron Summit Book but other hotels are. And I wonder who is Anthony Wayne?
