    3. If you got an answer from the Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, then it was from me and, if I typed "1940" I apologize! Marriage records in Summit County date to the founding of the county in "1840" and are located in the Summit County Probate Court. Robert L. Keener Corr. 2. Joanna Wisener
    3. I am looking for information about George Freeby who appears on the 1840 Summit County census in Stowe township. His household included 1 male age 60-70, 1 female 10-15, and 1 female 70-80. There is also a George Freeby on the 1830 Stark County census in Green township. According to the census, his household included 1 male age 5-10, 1 male age 50-60, 2 females age 15-20, and 1 female age 60-70. I have also found a I have also found a reference to "Catherine, daughter of George and Catherine (Ecker) Freebye, of Coventry, Ohio" who married Samuel Buell in November 1833. This reference comes from "History of Portage County, Ohio." I have been trying to find a map on-line that would help me see where these places are in relation to each other, but I haven't had much luck. I would love to hear from anyone who might be researching this family or who has any ideas about where to go from here to determine if these all are the same George and to learn more about any of his children. Thanks for your help! Joanna _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

I will try to attach the picture for you. My sister and my girl friend both were married there and I went to VBS there. In the picture, the Trinity Lutheran is the brown church. The Old Reformed Church is the white one next to it.

My great Aunt was there as a young girl with TB. She ultimately died but her sister, my grandmother was there for like 6 weeks and recovered. It is a wonderful old facility and is now a rehab hospital. My ex-husband did alcohol rehab there many years ago and my son just recently went there for physical rehab.

It is a piece of land back in the woods and there is actually a "pebble rock" It is a huge bolder/cliff sorta and looks as though it consists of a bunch of little pebbles. I can't remember now exactly where it is at but probably can find out. Columbia Chemical is now called PPG. It is located between Vanderhoof Rd. and VanBuren Rd. in Barberton. If you go to Mapquest and type in the location of [2450-2467] Vanderhoof Rd. Barberton Ohio 44203 you will get a map showing the area and you can view an aerial shot. I am going to attempt to attach it to this reply. I don't know what kind of information I can get for you since my ex-husband has passed away but my current husband may have played there. Seems I remember a portion of an old house or chimney there but don't remember anything about people living there actually.

    3. Thank you for the information! I was thrilled to read about the bridges and this one is beautiful. Coming from Arizona it is so nice to see big beautiful trees changing color and streams with bridges over them. We don't have anything like that here. I will find out more about the Everett Village. 2. The Everett Road covered bridge was reconstructed on its original site about 15 years ago after it had washed out in a flood in 1975. Before that, a large truck had damaged the bridge and it had been repaired. Since the reopening the bridge is limited to foot and bike traffic. Everett Road terminates in the village of Everett about 1/2 mile east of the covered bridge. Here's the rest of the story for those interested; http://www.nps.gov/cuva/history/CvrdBrdg.htm

    1. [OHSUMMIT-L] HIGGINS....Need Help
    2. Hello Members, My chances of winning the lottery or being struck by lightening are probably better than getting a response to this vague query. But here goes: I have Thomas HIGGINS SS# 274-01-6804 Born: May 10, 1898 in Missouri Died: December (day?) 1969 in Summit, Akron, OH Name of wife unknown. Questions: 1. Is it possible to get an obituary from the library without knowing a 'day' of death? 2. Are there any ONLINE city directories without membership to ancestry? That's all for now. Thanks a million. Deborah

    1. Re: [OHSUMMIT-L] Is there or was there an Everett High School in Summit County?
    2. This does not exactly relate to your question but there was an Everett Bridge that is now located at the Hale Farm Homestead I think to prevent trucks and floods from destroying it, the only covered bridge left in Summit County. I have a collection of covered bridges including the Everett Bridge. It has been painted by artists. I was away from this area for 22 years and now I realize that I don't see any postcards of the bridge anymore. It was a famous Summit County landmark. I have a brochure that has a picture of the bridge on its cover.
