I'm going to try again however, and see if I can get some film ordered this time. I will keep your names with me and if I run across them, I will certainly let you know. I'm not totally sure what the Billiter info is. I have heard about it, and accessed it through the link you sent me. I'm learrning as I go. Thanks again for your help. If you should run into any info in your search for me, I would certainly appreciate it. The name is Egger (no s) and of course you know the Wegmuller. Thanks again.

Wegmullers are a difficult bunch to find. Have you checked the LDS library? Wegmuller never returns any records found, which is aggravating because I know they're in Billeter's records. If you go to this website and do a search of the W's, <<< http://www.ghgrb.ch/researchCorner/billeter.html >>> it shows that there are sixty-some pages of Wegmuller family records by Billeter. However at the LDS online library, I did find a listing of 31 sources of information for Eggers in this country and in Switzerland. <<< http://www.familysearch.org/ENG/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp >>> Towns listed include Aarwangen, Andwill, Gossau, Adelboden. You might want to order a couple of these films and take a look. I have some films on order now, but haven't actually used one yet, so can't vouch for what you get. But for the $3 fee, I felt it was worth the effort. By the way, I ordered information about Bicshel and Raetz families if these show up in your files anywhere.

I have just found out that my gggrandmother's name was Madelena Wegmuller. I know she married Christ Egger and they are from Bern, but have no idea what town or village. They had a son named Nicholaus Egger b.1844 in Bern. Nicholaus came to America abt. 1880, and settled in Stark Co. Canton OH. He married Elizabeth Siegenthaler in Canton in 1884. She too was from Bern. I am really trying hard to find a town or village in Bern where Nicholaus, and his parents Madelena Wegmuller and Christ Egger are from, so that I can find more of my family. I don''t think that Madelena and Christ came to this country, but I could be wrong. Would you by chance have any info on any of these people? Maybe if you had info on Madelena, that would help me with what town or village in Bern they came from. Thanks in advance for your response.
Brandi, In reference to the "hook factory" my great-grandparents worked at a factory that manufactured fishing tackle. There were many women there that were "floor ladies" or sales people. The factory, showroom, and mail order sales were all in one building located downtown. The company, headed by Earnest Pelfre was incorporated with American fish Hook Company (est. 1864) and known as the Enterprise Manufacturing Company. I don't know when they went out of business, but I know my great-grandparents worked there in the 20's and 30's. If you want to know more about it, let me know, or you can look in "Akron and Summit County" by Karl Grismer As far as rubber companies at that time, they were so numerous, to count, and I have no idea how you would find out were they worked, unless you send for their Social Security application. Ooops - didn't really mean Ebay - but Amazon. Com. Jan Leigh Strange, CCHT, RMT Ask me about hypnotherapy for enhanced self-esteem, pain management, self-healing, spiritual emergence, past life regression.
Wheels of Fortune is a recent publication about Akron and the rubber industry. I understand it is a compilation of a series which ran int the Akron Beacon Journal. It is an informative and interesting book. You might find it on Ebay. Your note about your grandmother working in a hook factory - and the fact that husband listed as rubber factory, not specifically named - gives rise to these thoughts The rubber industry in the early 20th C gave rise to experimentation in manufacturing many products. One of them was shoes. As a matter of fact my mother as a young woman in the '20s left PA for Akron to gain just such employment. From her stories, it is my understanding that this industry employed mostly women (probably because of the detail work). And - remember high topped womens shoes with hooks and eyes - or many buttons needing a button hook. Thinking about transportation at the time - think about the area where your grandparents lived and check out factories close by. Random thoughts, but I hope they help at least a little.
