I think he married again in the 1860s and had a second family. You're right about the diary -- it's so hard to know what was going on in these circumstances. And being a prisoner of war no doubt had a terrific impact on him -- Andersonville was a hideous place! e-mail me privately and I'll send all the info I have on Conrad Waldsmith. It's very complicated! Regards, Diane in Chapel Hill
I am researching the Moritz and Cooney families in Cuyahoga County and I seem not to be able to subscribe to them. I didn't have any trouble with Summit County. Can anyone help. Thanks
Thanks for saying I was right about the O'Neils Christmas windows being shown lately. But, I did not go downtown at night and just in the day time and I remember how exciting it was when it was dark. Not the same thing anymore. But did you mean Barberton Summit County, OH or was that the way they spelled Barberton then. Let us know. Thanks
To all that sent encouraging responses, I wanted to thank you, I have tried to reply to everyone, but it is now becoming to over whelming to answer everybody back. I can understand how these list administrators that have several counties to do, feel. I have several leads and on my other lines and many many awesome folks who have offered to help. I have been researching for just a little under a year now, and have found many people and information. I have made many contacts and feel that I can help others with what I have. I have researched all that I can on my Heckman family until I receive proof from St. Augustine's church in Minster, Ohio as to who my Clemens's parents are, I am stuck. Right now he is an only child, and that is hard to believe. Through marriage, baptismal, probate and land contracts, and cemetery records WE KNOW HE EXISTS!! Ha ha To all of those people that receive a couple of hundred emails a week, I understand, I am in the same boat. It was a one time shot and proved in my mind successful. To save query time check which county your family came from. And if you only know the city or general area I will look up in my genealogical dictionary to find out which county the family came from. Hope this helps future researcher. Except right now I can't find my dictionary.

What county is Minister OH in?
I cannot find the application for the Health Department that I printed out but when I come across it I will send it again with the years. But, believe they must have died in Akron city limits and not other areas like Barberton.
I always remember that every Christmas going down to see the decorations in O'Neils and Polsky's correct me if I am wrong. But I think that they have revived the windows and I remember seeing them with the old Christmas stuff since I returned to the Akron year about 3 years now. You can still see the rather faded sign of the Company on one of the buildings in Akron today. Founded by Arthur Saalfield a native of Leeds, England. Saalfield became in charge of the book publishing department of the Werner Company when he came to Akron in 1898.
Mohawk rubber company where I worked one time as a temp say 1970's. Hi Collette: I can not answer your questions. It is best to go to the horse's mouth to get your answers. Ask them. You have the e-mail address. Here is the web site url where you can get the "general" information. http://www.ascpl.lib.oh.us/mainlib.html Good Luck on your research Norm

Lorrie, Are you by any chance related to Ray C. Smith who is buried at Reedsburg Ohio Cemetery? I believe he lived in Jermoeville, Wayne Co, Oh and died 19 Aug 1948. I'm related to his mother Adaline Lehr Smith through her mother Mary Jane Winkler Lehr. Any info would be deeply appreciated. Children were Bernard Smith of Ashland, OH, Perry Smith of Ashland, OH,John Smith of Wooster, OH and Ruth Gaff of Jeromeville, OH. If anyone knows if any of these people are still living or have contacts for their relatives, please contact me.
