    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: ADAMS, SHERRY, TAYLOR, SMITH, STEELMAN, WRIGHT, PEACHEY, WALDRON, BIRNEY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DYB.2ACE/1511 Message Board Post: Has anyone else noticed that there are so many Taylor families, from England, Australia, US, Ohio, just about everywhere, that were considered mute or deaf & dumb or hearing impaired? I have found four siblings from one Taylor family from NJ in the early 1800's. Over the years I have noticed many others, especially in England. It must be genetic! I would love to know if anyone else has noticed the same problem. On one of the boards I had even noted one woman who was calling these unfortunate people "daft" and making fun of them. If anyone had ever done a study on this problem, what a help it might be for researchers! Is there any of the Taylors on this board who have an ancestor who was considered mute or deaf & dumb? Please contact me. Sandy smt3@earthlink.net

    2. Priscilla
    3. Hello, I am anxious to find people who may be related or know of JOSIAH JACKSON WRIGHT, who was b. in VT. abt. 1826 & moved to Akron, probably as a young man. He married Margaret, last name unknown and their children were Mary who taught school; Carroll who was in the army according to a letter to his parents in July 1869; & Willie, a sickly child who died at age 12. Josiah was called Jack and was in the auctioneering business & also believed to be in the newspaper business. He was still alive in 1899. I will greatly appreciate any little bit of info anyone may have on this tough knot I've been unable to untangle! Thank you. Priscilla

    3. Hi Colette, The Summit County Court has: - Guardianships, Alphabetical indexes from 1840 to present. - Complete records of Wills, Estates, & Guardianships on microfilm. Copies for all three records are 75› per page. Certification is $1 extra. Their address and phone number are: Summit County Court 209 S. High St., 1st Floor, Akron OH 44308-1306 (330) 379-2512 / (330) 643-2352 I've never ordered anything from them, but it's worth a try! Hope this helps you. Sincerely, Mike Powers Long Beach, California On 7 Oct 2002 at 21:26, Collette LaRocque-Zetterberg wrote: Hello Everyone, My grandfather, Edwern "E." LaROCQUE said that he was born in Akron on January 31, 1902. He said his parents died and that he was raised by an uncle who was not very kind. He did not give specifics as to the uncle's name, nor when his parents died. He said he did not know his parents' names. When I went on a visit to Summit County (Ilive in CA) about 7 years ago, I could find no record of LaROCQUEs in the area at that time, nor any birth record for him or death record for his parents. I'm thinking that I should look at guardianship and adoption records. What are these like in Summit County? Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks, Collette

    3. Hi David and list, You might try contacting the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Their address is 55 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44326. Their phone number is 330-643- 9000. They have 1903 -1935 city directories, along with a 1929 telephone book. I don't know if they'll do lookups for you, but it's worth a try. I've ordered obituaries from them in the past and their service is fantastic. I had two addresses in Akron for my grandmother from the 1930 and 1931 city directories. When I got to the National Archives to look at the census, it turned out she wasn't living at either address. While rewinding the second roll of microfilm, my mom just happened to pause and look down at a random page, and there was her mother in the census. That was a lucky find! Anyway, good luck. I figure maybe I would have another choice, or two, if the 1929 and 1931 directories could be checked.

    3. Yesterday in looking at this LDS film, there was a form on top of the famielienbuch register filled out for this Mack family. Noted on the form is "Traungsdatum 3.5.1849 Cleveland, Ohio". I copied this form, copied Johann's families register and grandparents register. In addition there are about 8 other Mack families on this film. I couldn't find Traungsdatum in my not so good dictionery, but it must mean when the family arrived in Cleveland as all of their 10-children are born 1850 and forward. I hope someone on these lists am sending this to wants this information! I was pretty excited about it and I am not even related to this family. Carole in Georgia, USA
