Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DYB.2ACE/581.759.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello Jan, You are the second person that has contacted me this year and is working on this line. That is encouraging. There is a Scott McAlpine who is also working on the line. Yes, I have the picture of Matilda that you saw on Ancientfaces. I have one of Zebulon as well, but except for a few others the rest are unidentified. There may be Sicklers among them. I wish I knew which ones they are. I have done quite a bit of research on the Sickler line in the past seven or more years. I have been trying to learn more about Gilbert and who his parents were. Do you know who his first wife was before Lucinda ? I don't have a scanner or I could send you the picture of Zebulon. Let me know how long you have been researching and your connection to George Albert. Thanks, Claudia

I am related to Zebulon and Matilda via their son George Albert McAlpine (b. 1850). Would love to share info. Do you still have a picture of Gilbert and/or Matilda? I found one of Matilda on Ancientfaces.com but do not have one of Gilbert or any other Sicklers.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DYB.2ACE/63.1 Message Board Post: David, did you ever get the information you asked for on Joshua Wakefield Trumphour? The reason I ask is that three of his children married into my Dickerson family. Eliza Lydia Trumphour married John Dickerson, Barbara Sophia Trumphour married Edwin Riley Dickerson and Charles Albert Trumphour married Julia Chase Dickerson all of Northamptom Twp, Summit Co, Ohio. The Dickerson children were all children of William Dickerson and Martha Chase. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of information about them and I am hoping you might have come up with some and would share.

    1. Genealogy Discussion Group
    2. Donna Gruber
    3. Note we will meet in the Akron Library Special Collections room in February. The Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists is sponsoring an Advanced Genealogy Discussion Group. The next meeting is on Saturday, February 18, 2006. The purpose of the group is to discuss advanced genealogical methodology as presented in case studies that have appeared in various scholarly genealogical publications. The group meets the third Saturday of the month, starting at 10:00 am, at one of the Akron-Summit County Public Library. The library is located at 60 South High St., Akron, OH. The meetings last about one and one-half hours. The discussions are free but pre-registration is required. Any experienced genealogical researcher is welcome to enroll. As a pre-requisite, participants should be familiar with Dr. William M. Litchman's article, "Teaching Analysis, Logic, and the Research Process: A Seminar Approach", from the NGS News Magazine, Nov/Dec 2000, pages 340-343. Each participant is requested to read several times, in advance of the meeting, the article to be discussed at the meeting. The article chosen for the February 18, 2006 discussion appeared in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, September 2005. It is titled "The Visit of John Adams Unlocks the Door to Clayton Stafford's Lineage" beginning on page 177. To register, or for any questions, contact Donna Gruber at [email protected] or call (419) 846-3533.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DYB.2ACE/2368.4.1 Message Board Post: Thank you for the information. Mainly what I was seeking was that someone told me my greatgrandparents Wilhelm & Caroline Denzin came to the U.S. (I can't find any record of this or them being in Ohio or anywhere else); and that in 1920 they lived at 876 Sherman in Akron with her daughter's family (Frank and Ida Pofahl Garske). I found Frank's family; at a different address, but, no sign of the Denzin's. I'm beginning to wonder if they really did come to the U.S. I don't know anything about them except they were both supposedly born in 1860 in Germany; so, it's hard for me to even know where to begin. I did a line by line of Dist. 5 last night; and, couldn't find them anywhere.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DYB.2ACE/2368.4 Message Board Post: Frances - When I read your question, I knew there was an easy way to know districts/wards, but couldn't remember what it was. Senior CRS! Tonight reading messages I remembered. When the USPS began using zipcodes, the districts became the last two numbers. Thus, District 5, would become 44305, District 6, 44306, etc. Also, regarding Garske, etal., in the 1930s I went to school with Garske kids. We lived in Kenmore. Kenmore was a separate city until 1927/28, when it was incorporated into Akron. Kenmore had just built a state-of-the-art fire station with latest equipment, and Akron wanted access to it. The point is, if your group moved to Kenmore early on they would not be listed as living in Akron.
