My great-grandmother's nephew, Luther Smith was living in Hudson at the time of her death in May 1967. All I have from our family reunion is that he married a Ruth (last name unknown, but may be Luther). Either Luther or Ruth died in October 1988. They had 2 children, Leroy and Duane Smith, and both of them had 2 children. Leroy married a Phyllis and the children were Lenny and Roger Smith. Duane married a Joanne and the children were Christine and Mitchell Smith. I have not been able to find anything else on the family members. Luther's sister, Emma was born in 1915 and I haven't been able to find a birth year for Luther. Can anyone help with some advice or general help on this family? I have been searching for Luther for about 5 years now with no luck. Ryan --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Search.

I thank you for that information. I don't think he would be related, because he was born in Ohio. He could be a brother to my Great-Grandfather Adolf, except that he was born in Ohio. Adolf b.1855, his wife Anna (Boehme) b.1859, and first child Oscar A., b.1880 were born in Germany. My Grandfather John A. in 1883, was the first one born over here. So our Mohns are relatively new to the USA. There were a bunch of Mohns that came over in the 1700s. I bet that Oscar b. in Ashland Co., was from that 1700s line BUT I'll look into it. I wonder if the 1700s Mohn family ever visited with my 1880s Mohns! Thanks again for your help! Is there any family info I can help you with? ~Deb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had checked the "send me an alert" but I guess it didn't come through! The message showing about when Adolf, Anna and Oscar Mohn came over from Germany, well, that was my original message. Thank you for trying to help. I'm glad to meet someone from the Boehme family! My dad used to visit his Boehme cousins in the 1920s & 30s. I think they were in Cleveland, Ohio at some point or at least north of Akron, Ohio. Oh, there is a change on the information about Adolf, Anna & Oscar coming to the USA, it was in 1882 not 1883 like I first thought. I found them finally on The Ship Hermann coming here from Bremen Germany in August 26, 1882. Ida Boehme came over a year later when she was 11 years old in Sept. 29, 1883 on the ship Rhein. Not sure if she was alone or not because I didn't see any family names that I recognized. Wow, 11 years old on a ship alone! Oh, now we have a date of birth for Ida Boehme -1872. Are any of my Boehme family part of your Boehme family? Since I last wrote about Oscar, I did find out that he died in Sept. 23, 1946. Thank goodness for my Aunt's diary!!!! But now I can't find him in any of the cemeteries in Summit Co. I'm starting to look around Summit Co. now! Wish me luck! Thank you for all your help trying to find my Great Uncle Oscar. I'll keep looking and trying new theories to make sense of things! Happy New Year! Deb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am descendant of John Brown's brother Frederick and live near Hudson. I have read several bios of John Brown and there is no direct mention of the Hines family in them. However-- the Hines family remained in Hudson well into the 20th century. They purchased farmland owned by my ggg grandfather Frederick Brown on the corner of Darrow Rd. and Hines Hill Rd., named for your family. My great grandfather Charles Brown and my mother used to go to the Hines property for annual Brown family reunions for many years into at least the 1960's. If you do not have access to cemetery inscriptions for Hudson, I can check those for you to see if any of these folks have headstones in either the Old Hudson Burying Ground or Markillie Cemetery. Some folks from Hudson moved to nearby Richfield; others headed west to IL and CA. Many people in Hudson ere involved with the abolition movement; the Frederick Brown property was a stop on the Underground Railroad. I am looking for any clue to what happened to my ancestor, Sidney Hines and his wife Elizabeth Davis Hines along with their two sons, Oscar T. A and Slyvester F. They last showed up in the 1850 census in Hudson. They also they had two daughters, Salome and Helen. Helen and Salome show up in the 1860 census living with other families. Helen lived with William Dobbs and Salome lived with William Foster family. The rest of the family have just disappeared after 1850. My question is this: Was there a disaster of some kind or did they move away, and or an illness that swept through at that time. I also know that was a time of the abolition in Hudson. Were they involved with John Brown at the time? They are my brick wall for those ten years.
