Jimmy, Divorce records are available from the Summit County Clerk of Courts, Domestic Relations Department, 205 South High Street, Akron, OH 44308. I don't know what their procedures are for mail requests, so you might want to go to their web site at _www.cpclerk.co.summit.oh.us_ (http://www.cpclerk.co.summit.oh.us) , or call them at 330.643.2217. Hi Lois, Thanks for this info. One question. Where would I write to get a divorce record from about 1963? Thanks again for your help.? Jimmy M. Sisson sisson42@aol.com -----Original Message----- From: NoirotHome@aol.com To: ohsummit@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, 27 Jan 2008 6:07 pm Subject: Re: [OHSUMMIT] Marriage Lic. Recently, there have been several requests for Summit County, Ohio, Marriage License records. Because I work at Summit County Probate Court, I did offer to look up the first two. The problem is when you want copies of the record made and mailed to you - I have to keep e-mailing you back and forth to let you know what's there (or what isn't there), and then to see which kind of copy you want, etc.. I would like to post the following information in an effort to let everyone know what's available. First, the Summit County Probate Court Records Room is more than willing to make copies of any record for genealogists. One Certified Copy of a Marriage Abstract is $2.00, but regular copies are only five cents each. All marriages from the year 2000 to present are online. They are slowly entering the marriages prior to that time, but are only back to January, 1987, as of now. If you know the name(s) and approximate time, you may write to them at 209 South High Street, Akron, OH 44308; you may call them at 330.643.2352 Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon; or you may e-mail them at _recordsinfo@summitohioprobate.com_ (mailto:recordsinfo@summitohioprobate.com) . The Court's web site is _www.summitohioprobate.com_ (http://www.summitohioprobate.com) . Second, the Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society has a Marriage Index CD available for sale that covers all marriages from 1840 through 1900 (over 45,000 total entries) for only $15.00 plus $3.00 postage. Their web site is _www.acorn.net/gen_ (http://www.acorn.net/gen) , which shows their address, e-mail address, and other records available. It turns out that this is in fact a Cousin. Her Mother, Sarah Blanche Zimmerman was my Father's Sister and the first of twelve children to James and Catherine Zimmerman of Plum township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. I tried to use the Akron Library's Obituary website and all I could find was the index. It was an incredibly slow site to use. Having given my heartfelt thanks, could I impose on you to see if you can locate an obituary for Dorothy's Daughter Valerie Siohban Capezuto. She was apparently very young to have passed away. I am the gatekeeper for research to all my cousins from this Zimmerman family and I am sure they would like to know of these events. Thank you so much............
