My great grandfather took that route from Pittsburgh in 1852 and then travelled by foot to Smithville in Wayne County. I'm not sure whether he walked from Massillon or Canton, but it would have been in the summer of 1852. Am interested in the exact for my railroad history and genealogy. Thanks for any possible help.
