A bill to prevent the Social Security number and mothrs's maiden name contained on a marriage certificate from falling into the wrong hands was introduced this week by state Rep. Bryan Williams, R-Akron. The informanton would still be required for marriage certificates but would be removed for public records requests, said Omar Alvi, legislative aide to Williams. The bill would bring Ohio into compliance with a 1990 federal law banning social Security numbers from being given out as part of public records requests. Ohio lawmakers last year make the number optional on driver's licenses. End. The following is from http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/ the legislature of Ohio web page.
