Hi All, Be on the alert for a possible virus called the PANTHER. Those on the HOLMES COUNTY list have received a group mailing with no return address that contained an attachment called "panthr.exe." See the following concerning a virus by that name listed on the McAfee website: I just checked on http://www.mcafee.com and discovered that there IS a virus called "Panther." The e-mail that I received, and assume you all received, has an attachment called "panthr.exe." DO NOT CLICK ON THE FILE CALLED BY THAT NAME! The information concerning it on McAfee's site says the following: Virus Name W97M/Panther Date Added 10/24/99 Virus Characteristics This virus propagates by infecting Word documents in Microsoft Word 97 and 2000 and Word's normal.dot file. This virus consists of a module called ThisDocument. It is able to replicate under the SR-1 release of Word 97. It will turn off the macro warning feature of Word 97. Indications Of Infection None.
