Hi, Does anyone know if there's an obituary index for Stark County? Thanks, Sue Lister

Hi Sue, The Genealogy Division at The Stark County District library has obit indices for the Canton Repository newspaper from 1956 to present day. I and volunteers are currently indexing the Ohio (later Canton) Repository for births, deaths, marriages and administration announcements. This index is currently in the next to last stage of the process. Totally alphabetical from 1815 to 1856, and another part (1857 to 1866) ready to be placed in the database is currently chronological. This index will be in book form through December 1870. For obits between 1870 and 1956, you will need a rather specific date to request a search - at least month and year of death. The years 1815 through 1840 are searchable on the library website. www stark lib oh us Place "dots" between the above. Is there a similiar index available (in any form) for the Vaterlandsfreund?
