There are numerous small towns in the Canton Aargau where the Woodtli surname has recorded ancestry going beyond 1798. These villages are: Oftringen, Rothrist, Strengelbach and Vordemwald. Your John Christoph Woodtli must have been originating from any one of these. To my knowledge the Mormon Church family history library system have microfilmed copies of the church records of the Canton Aargau.
