Hi, I'm the "cousin from Australia" that Ann Ulatt mentioned a few days ago, although I was raised in Stark County. In case you're wondering how I fit in here, I'm a descendant of John Reese's son Jacob (1803-1855). The information you give here corresponds pretty closely with what I have, but I'm curious about a few of the details. I'm especially keen to know what sources you've used for the earliest data. 1) You indicate that John Reese was born in Wales. What was the source of that information? There was a time when I thought John Reese was Welsh, but other evidence suggests that the family was German (with "Riess" and "Ries" as early spellings). For example, there is a baptismal record from St. Kreider's church in Maryland which translates as: "Johann George, son of Johann and Hanna Ries; b. 3/18/1798; bp. 7/1/1798; sponsors: Jacob and Dorothea Ries". I suspect is this is your George. (This birth date corresponds exactly with the evidence from George's tombstone [died Sept. 24, 1884, aged 86 years, 6 months, 6 days]). 2) I believe John moved to Franklin Co, PA before 1812. "John Reece", with a family makeup that seems to fit, appears in the Franklin Co. census of 1810, and there is a "John Reese" listed among the communicants of the Little Cove Stone Church in Franklin Co in 1806. 3) Do you know the name of George's wife? Her first name was definitely Nancy. Was her last name Marsh? I'm guessing that it was from a shared headstone in Freeburg Cemetery. 4) Do you have any clues regarding the maiden name of John's wife, Hanna (Johanna?)?
