St. John's Catholic Church (2nd oldest Catholic church in NE Ohio) was in the center of Canton, not New Berlin (North Canton). Canton is approximately 6 miles from the center of Massillon. I don't have "The Stark County Story" by Heald here at home, but I believe that either St Ann's or St. Barbara's in Massillon was established sometime in the 1830s. Also, St Louis Catholic Church in Louisville was established early, perhaps 1840s. Can anyone give a starting date for any of these Catholic churches ?
