    3. They started 1867 to 1908 probate court, then vital statistics or health dept. I could not find one for 1894. Good Luck..     3. one line across two large pages of a journal started in most counties in 1867 w/ a few in the 1850's surviving. The information was taken from "certificate type forms" and put in the journals. Some "certificates" were saved i.e. Carroll Co., some were cut up into little pieces and used for markers in Estate files i.e. Franklin Co....not sure about the others. The State Vital Statistics dept was formed Dec. 20, 1908 to collect the information and that is when the "certificates" became the actual records...except the part they cut off that they don't want you to see.
