I have several Catharine or Catharina Mathiases in my database. Anyone with access to the book *Mat(t)hias Milestones* by Dorothy Weiser Seale will also have similar information - this ought to be quite a few Stark County researchers. This particular Catharine Mathias was born Feb. 9, 1803 in Westmoreland County, PA (also known as "Sewickley Settlement") to Daniel Mathias, Jr. and Juliana Zehner, who later became early settlers of Stark County. I only mentioned her to distinguish her husband, John Gilbert, from other men of the same name, and to alert any Gilbert researchers - not that I usually find any, nor did Dorothy Weiser Seale! - about the person I'm endeavoring to research (John Gilbert; Dorothy Weiser Seale absolutely covered the Mathias territory in her book, or most of it). I have a Gilbert book published in 1980 by a Lael O. Gilbert. My gg grandmother was a Gilbert from western PA. There is only one mention of a John Heinrich Gilbert born about 1789 in PA (either Berks or Philadelphia COunty). He was not of my direct line which another brother moved onto to Schuykill County PA where those sons were born about 1840's. I will look up more later.
