Hi, I recently received a photograph with the following caption printed underneath: Robert LEGG, East Greenfield, Ohio, is President of the old reliable Massillon Sub-District, also Executive Board Member of the Ohio Dist. United Mine Workers of America. Mr. LEGG was born in England, and his early training there in Unionism has aided him in the home of his choice, where he is known for his active work, his quiet demeanor, his knowledge of mining affairs, and for his success in handling them. Preventing the use of enlarged coal screens, and securing the eight-hour work day for the hoisting engineers in his Sub-District during the past year, are two things of note due to Mr. LEGG's hard and persistent effort. As an official Mr. LEGG has been a success, and his continued re-election to office demonstrates that his constituents appreciate his worth. Can anyone tell me what kind of work the President of a Sub-District would do? And does anyone know any Massillon archives addresses that I could write to for more information? I'm sure there will have been more stuff written about this man, I just don't know where. Thanks in advance. Regards, Joyce. North Shields, UK.
