Today being a spring-like day, we took a field trip to Waynesburg (Stark County), Ohio, SE of Canton, to visit the grave of my great-great-great-grandfather, John Patrick Creighton - born October 17, 1796 in PA; died in Carroll County, just across the line from Stark, on August 20, 1876, but buried in Waynesburg. His second wife, Polly BAKER, buried next to him, twin monuments under the shade of a tree, which we found after a brief hunt. There are a John and a James Creighton buried closer to the road, most likely sons, will have to consult my notes, John died in 1864, possibly in the Civil War. John and I were upset to see the number of stones and monuments upturned and broken, especially after reading at lunch in Canton that a number of stones and monuments have been destroyed or badly damaged in Tallmadge, where our GILLETT, HARRISON, WOLCOTT and ALLYN are buried.
