Hi everyone; Now that I have my death cert with some limited additional information. I am still trying to figure out who my mystery person is. He is buried at Forest Hill Cemetery and I will be contacting them this week. The cert has him listed with the Stark County House as his residence, no address. I have to assume this is the County "poor house" at that time. I did a look at the ward/district descriptions of Stark Cty in the 1920 census and was not able to determine where this is located. If someone could lead me to the correct ward/district, I will be grateful. thank you, marg
The Stark County Home was located in plain Township I was looking through by browsing the Plain Twp., 1920 census I found the Stark County Infirmary so far not yet the county home. You do not give the name of the individual you are looking for??? Maybe the Stark County Infirmary is the Stark County House. The census was taken on January 26, 1920. So if you person was not living there then this census won't help you. Let us know the name and death date. Lindsey [email protected] wrote on 11/9/2005, 4:44 PM: > Hi everyone; > > Now that I have my death cert with some limited additional > information. the stark county poor house ( or farm ) was in canton ohio on cleveland ave. there is a post office there now. it sat way back up on a hill--i remember when i was a kid -it was probably empty then(60's) but my parents told me what it was. i was young but something about the place must have struck me that i still remember asking my parents about it. do a web search for stark county poorhouse or canton ohio poorhouse-- there is a web site about it. good luck [email protected] wrote: Hi everyone; Now that I have my death cert with some limited additional information.
