Mike, You're right on top of things. I was at a seminar a couple weeks back and the Ohio Historical Society Librarian was there. She said they were working frantically to get it done and online by November 1st. So they made it! Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention. I've been off ever since and totally forgot about it. When they did the conversion, many errors were "culled" and so if you don't find the person you're looking for, you'll need to check the fiche/film indexes. Carol
This is very true. I was at the OHS this last Thursday. I took printouts from the online database with me but found a number of errors on the certificate numbers that printed with the names I had for searched online. My d. certs that I needed were on the microfilm rolls but I had to skim each d. cert for the area I was searching to find the d. certs I needed. It is a lot less expensive to go there in person if you live close enough to the society and print the records yourself. 25 cents per printed record verses ordering them @ $7 each. Even with parking 2 $4 for the time you are there, you still come out way ahead if you have quite a few records to obtain.
