I have a Dr David Miller born July 22, 1827 in (possibly Stark County by great aunt Georgia's rememberances) Ohio, He married in Butler County, Ohio Aug 22, 1850 to a Mary Cop/Cap. In 1850, they were living in Montgomery County, Ohio and he is listed as a student. In 1860 he is living in Miami County, Indiana and by 1870 he has different wife and living in Marshall County, Indiana where he stays till the 1880's when he moves to Brule County, South Dakota, where he dies in May 22, 1895. He marries Sara Alice Warnes/Warner Dec 17, 1861, in Marshall County, Indiana, though others have told me it was in Koscuisko County, Indiana. I do know that Sarah Alice, she was called Alice by her descendants and on her tombstone, came from Koscuisko County, Indiana. I think David was of the Dunkard religion. I have been trying to find his parents for 30 years with no success, hopefully this will be a connection. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Their daughter, Anna Elizabeth Miller married Abraham Ream in 1846 in Stark Co., Oh. I have quite a bit on the descendants of Abraham & Anna Elizabeth Miller Ream. Abraham Ream's brother, Joseph Ream, married a Mary Miller (1817-1866) on 18th Aug. 1839 in Stark Co., Oh. At one time I had Mary Miller's parents but lost them due to a computer crash. Her parents were not John Peter & Mary Kaughman Miller. Thus, if Mary Miller was any relation to her brother-in-law's wife, Anna Elizabeth Miller, she was at best a cousin. 3. Hello everyone. I found this the other day and thought I would pass the information along in case anyone here was interested. The 1860 Mortality schedule is available on CD rom for Stark county. I’ve heard of this, but I’ve never actually seen it before. It sounds interesting. Here is the link if you want to check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/1860-Mortality-schedule-Stark-county-Ohio_W0QQitemZ170219870123QQihZ007QQcategoryZ20927QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262 Or you can just go to ebay and do a search for Stark mortality schedule 1860. I hope this helps someone! Bob M. (I have no connection to this person-- I’m just passing along the info)

    1. [OHSTARK] Early Stark County Land Titles - Descriptions in Tax Records
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: aandreje Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.stark/5025/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My question deals with early land records (Ohio: 1818-1821) which I am researching. In the Tax Records - 1819 - Stark County, Ohio there is a column listing "Title". For each land record, there is an entry in the title column showing the type of title, i.e., Pat[ent], Deed, Cont[ract], or Agent. My question is what does the term "Contract" refer to? Does it refer to a land contract transaction with another individual? Or was this a special kind of title? The amount of acreage covered by this "contract" title is relatively large (547 acres). I have gone through the records for the year prior 1816-1818 and cannot find a transfer or purchase of this land to my ancestor. Can anyone offer some additional insight or point me to other resources? Thanks, Jean Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Go to: http://www.starklibrary.org/genealogyservices.html Click on Genealogy Dept on left side and then click on Request Forms. The staff is quick to reply and can mail you a copy at very little charge - typically $1.00 including copy and postage. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
