    1. [OHSTARK] Sahm, Josephine and Katherine
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: MSahm|MA1207721 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.stark/5030/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Would appreciate any information on my Great-Aunts, Josephine and Katherine Sahm who lived at 833 High Street NW, Canton, Ohio. Josephine was a housekeeper for the George H. Walker family for "many years" according to her obituary. Believe Katherine may have been a housekeeper for a priest(s). They also cared for their Uncle Henry Sahm, who had been a blacksmith in Canton for many years, after his wife Mary passed away. They were all parishioners of St. Peter's Catholic Church and obituaries indicate that Josphine and Katherine are buried at St. Peter's Cemetery. I would guess that is where Henry and his wife Mary are also buried. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [OHSTARK] Finney's of Ohio
    2. gfinney
    3. Greetings, I am looking to come into contact and exchange genealogy information with anyone that is researching the Finney surname. I have been researching my Coshocton/Tuscarawas County Finney ancestor for 14 years now and I have not been able to locate the name of his parents. At the end of August I will be taking the trip from California to Ohio, for one short week, in the hopes of finding some more detailed information on my ancestors from Ohio. I will be the first person in my family line to return to Ohio since my Great Grandfather left for Missouri sometime between 1880 and 1889. It is my hopes that by posting this message in the neighboring counties of Tuscarawas and Coshocton Counties that I may find someone who is researching the same Finney line that I am. I cannot find the parents of my Civil War Veteran ancestor nor do I know if he has any siblings. I have not even been able to figure out his middle name from the middle initial that I have. I will post some information on my ancestor in the hopes that his name appear in the research of one of your list members. Thank you in advance for anyone that can assist me. Isaac B. Finney was born in or about the year of 1830 or 1831. This is an estimated date as I have no actual documentation to his actual date of birth. His death record shows his age as 43 years, 3 months, and 24 days of age at the time of his death on March 14, 1874. When Isaac enlisted in the Civil War on September 11, 1861 he stated that he was 29 years of age. On September 11, 1853, Isaac B. Finney married Rachel Orr. Rachel was the daughter of William Orr and Ann Perkins of Perry Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. William Orr was from Maryland and was a veteran of the War of 1812. Ann Perkins was born in Virginia. The marriage was conducted by Clark Conwell, Esquire, at the home of William and Ann Orr. Isaac B. Finney was a carpenter. I do not know if this was a trade taught to him by his father or if it was a trade he learned from someone else. Isaac and Rachel had 10 surviving children, if the information on the death certificates for the two older children are correct then they were born in Washington Township near Gilmore in 1853 and 1859. Isaac is found in census records as living in Coshocton County in 1860 and 1870 and his Civil War pension records states that Isaac and Rachel moved back to Tuscarawas in Washington Township, near Gilmore in late 1870. One of their children , Josephine, stayed behind in Coshocton County due to an illness and lived in the home of Mary Zincoln. Children's names: William Finney - Died at a young age Hannah Finney - Died at a young age George Washington Finney - Married Minnie Dempster, lived in Columbus. Robert Ellsworth Finney - Married Irma Herrick Kezia Ann Finney - Married Leonard Kail Isaac Marshel Finney - Unknown if married. Last found in 1880 census in Centerville, Indiana Ozias S. Finney - Married Hester Mitchell and Prudence Murphy, both in Indiana. Josephine Finney - Remained in Coshocton Co. when Finney family moved back to Tuscarawas in 1870 Josephus Finney - Married unknown and lived in Steubenville in 1910. Josephine and Josephus were twins. Lewellis Pendleton Finney - Married Mary Borders and Georgia Ann Miles, 1890 and 1893 in Missouri. Mary E. Finney - Married Jacob Miller and then later someone named Williams. Lillie Dale Finney - Married Ed Fowler Isaac and Rachel are listed on page 182 of the Tuscarawas County Cemetery listing and are in Volume 6 of the Tuscarawas County Cemetery Inscriptions. They are both shown as being buried in West Union Cemetery near the town of Gilmore.

I realize you posted this message long ago, but I started doing research on my married name (Yahne) and I have a copy of a marriage certificate I copied years ago. The marriage certificate is for Solomon Yahne and Mary Sickafoose on January 12, 1843. It says the originals are at the Whitley County Historical Museum in Columbia City, Indiana. It has a signature that looks like Aaron M. Collins, who was the justice of the peace, if I am reading this old script correctly. Sorry, if this is repetitive! Take care, and happy searching. Her obit says" Survivors include one daughter, Edna Mae (Smitty) Smith of Beach City." Their obituaries were found in the Canton Repository... Does anyone know the other two children that were born to Wilson and Dorothy. I assume the other daughter and the son died between Wilson and Dorothy's death.
