After I downloaded the book, I tried to search it but it did not work. I just skipped to the last page, to get to the Index page, then found Henry Bachtel biography. It is interesting though that all these other family members are mentioned in the bio but not in the index. After reading the post about the Portrait and Biographical Record of Stark County Ohio I did a google search for it. The end result is that you can see what libraries have a particular book or where you can purchase it. Some books can even be searched for information that is in them. Each time I search, I see something new. With this one, I was able to download the whole book as a pdf file for free. Then I can search by name. This requires having Adobe to read it. Also this time I noticed when I did the search, it listed all the copies with a description of the book and in lighter print in the description it says if it has No Preivew, Limited Preview or Full Preview. I use google a lot to search for names I am researching, especially if they are unusual spelling like Bachtel or Beghtel which is way our branch ended up spelling it. This is how I learned about the google book search feature. Good luck Marilyn **************One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. Try it now. Can anyone verify that SGCK?is Sugar Creek Twp on the Stark County Military Enrollment of 1865?? In the preface SUCR = Sugar Creek Twp.? We all appreciate the great amount of work put into ?indexing this. I take it that nothing further of genealogical value ?is stated in the original records of these?? The preface indicates this book contains the full info contained in the original, but is that reference? to this index as the ?"book"? Also, I would like to add that if a name does not appear on this listing that it does not necessarily mean a person from Stark Co. did not serve.?? I have a relative who is not listed who lived his whole life in Stark Co. and served and had among his duties the writing of the letters telling the next of kin of the deaths of their relative/soldiers from Ohio in the aftermath of that battle. He also years later gave a speech at the dedication of Ohio's stone memorial at Gettysburg. So perhaps this listing does not cover all who had been enrolled in service from 1861 up until the taking of this list in 1865?
