This is my regular, perhaps monthly quest for information or connections to the HALTER family which came from Schirrhein, Alsace, France to Ohio. Below are a few generations of my Halters (though there's always a risk that I may not have the info totally correct), but there were many, many branches which went to Stark, Carroll, and other Ohio counties. If I haven't corresponded with you before, please write me. I collect all I can on this line. I'm always trying to put the puzzle together. I am very willing to share. Thanks. Hi Everyone, Would those who sent me queries today in regard to surnames of families related to the DAGUE family, please resend them?. My computer froze up and I lost all messages received today. I apologize for the inconvenience. I will not be able to answer the queries for a couple weeks, because I am away from home and do not have the family histories with me. Hi, Someone on one of these lists sent his/her cousin my posting about the Dague reunion and the surnames of related families. The cousin wrote to me to inquire about several surnames. Comer and Hoover are the only ones I remember. Unfortunately, my computer froze up and I lost all the messages received today. My apologies for the inconvenience, but would you please ask your cousin to write to me again? I live in Columbia, MD. My gggrandfather lived in East Greenville near Massillon for several years in the 1850s with his Uncle Zachariah Greenfield. I have about 100 letters written to him there and from his Uncle after he returned to Maryland. There are many references to local information and names contained in the letters which I thought someone there might be interested in. Can anyone give me an email address for someone who might be interested? I would also like to find more information on any descendants of Uncle Zachariah- he had a daughter. Also my ggrandfather married a Black. Her family lived in that area JR Black- I have his will and deed from property. I also have LOTS of pictures taken in Canton- no identification however. Looking for William HUNTER was born we believe in CAN possibly Quebec in abt 1774. His parents are said to have came from IRE. He moved from CAN to possibly Checengo CO, NY around early 1800, but this has not be documented, it could be PA. Sometime bet 1808-1812 William moved to OH where his sons had moved and his is found living with his daughter. He is said to have been a preacher probably of the Baptist Faith. We do not know who William married, but do know he had several sons. They were; Anderson R. abt 1792, Jabez and Samuel. Jabez and Samuel we know almost nothing about. Anderson served as a Justice of the Peace in Rockford, OH from 1832-1850. He married twice. First to Mary GRAVES. His second wife was Rebecca LILLIES\ANTONIDES. Rebecca was a widow. William had the following known children; Anderson Jr, Jane, James L, Martha, and Nancy Ann. Anderson died on Dec 1857 in Rockford, OH. The HUNTER's stayed mostly in the Mercer, Auglaize, Ross and Stark CO's until they moved to OK in the early 1900's. Georgann whunter@ktc.com
