Looking for William HUNTER was born we believe in CAN possibly Quebec in abt 1774. His parents are said to have came from IRE. He moved from CAN to possibly Checengo CO, NY around early 1800, but this has not be documented, it could be PA. Sometime bet 1808-1812 William moved to OH where his sons had moved and his is found living with his son Anderson R. in 1870's. He is said to have been a preacher probably of the Baptist Faith. William married Jane CARR(E) bef 1792 in PA. They had the following known children; Anderson R. abt 1792, Jabez abt 1800, Samuel - Jan 1820, George M. - 1826, and Jackson - 1830. I'm sure there were more children born to them, but don't know them at this time. SECOND GENERATION I know little about these son except Anderson R. Anderson served as a Justice of the Peace in Rockford, OH from 1832-1850. He married twice. First to Mary GRAVES. His second wife was Rebecca LILLIES\ANTONIDES. Rebecca was a widow of Jonathon Antonides. Anderson had the following known children; Anderson Jr, Jane, Martha, and Nancy Ann. Anderson died on Dec 1857 in Rockford, OH. The HUNTER's stayed mostly in the Mercer, Auglaize, Ross and Stark CO's until they moved to OK in the early 1900's, some did move to Ft. Wayne, ID. Georgann whunter@ktc.com

Hello Everyone: Regarding the Genealogy service that is listed in the query below, I would like everyone to know that I tried it. After sending an E-Mail telling them what I wanted, they E-Mailed me to send $1.00 (in cash) to an address in OH. I sent my envelope and money to them on July 21, 1999, and received my information today. I'm pleased with their service. Does anyone know if part of Tascarawas County ever became part of Stark or Portage County? I found a land patent for a person who could be related to my line, but the county was Tascarawas... right next to Stark and Portage. Any chance the boundaries changed and his land became part of Stark or Portage?

Cheryl - my suggestion for you would be to check out the Massillon Public Library web site: MOLO Member Homepage, Massillon Public Library Once you access their home page, select "CyberReference Room", and from there "Genealogy". You can check out all that they have to offer from here & you can also e-mail them. Massillon Public Library has obituaries indexed from the Massillon Independent Newspaper. I'm sure their reference librarian will be happy to look up the information you need and to send copies of all the pertinent information to you. They are most helpful there.
Is there anyone who has access to the archives of the Massillon Independent (newspaper) and can look up for something for me. My husband's great-uncle was a policeman in Massillon and sometime during the 1930s he was shot and killed in the line of duty....My husband thinks his first name was Bill, so I guess that would be William Quinn.....Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could do it myself. Cheryl Quinn
Is there anyone who could do a death cert. lookup for me? if so please let me know... Claudette ________________________________________________________ NetZero - We believe in a FREE Internet. Shouldn't you? Get your FREE Internet Access and Email at http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html
