(Thanks again, Robert Behra!) I am trying to locate the name of the ship that George Conrad Roos (b. 2-16-1786) came to America from Masevaux, Haut-Rhin, Alsace on. His passport was dated 5-4-1838. He came over with his five children, Ann Marie Louise b. 1816, Jacques Conrad b. 1818, Francois Auguste b. 1824, Marie Josephine b. 1826 and Louis Francois b. 1833. I believe George Conrad Roos might have started using the name Conrad Rose after he came to America. I think he originally settled in Ohio, then this family went to Iowa. I appreciate any help that you can give me. Even suggestions at what films I should be looking at are helpful to me. The subject of your message refers to a 1938 ship but from the body you really mean 1838. Many people may have skipped over your message due to the 100 year discrepancy. You may want to repost. Since you know the town your subject came from, it is really easy to find the appropriate film at the LDS Family History Center. Use their computer index to the Salt Lake City library entering the name of the town and it will give you a list of the films available by church, government records, etc. You are asking someone else to do the same thing and they are less likely to figure out what is of interest to you. You know as I have talked to many over the years. I have noticed that there were sure a lot of families who came from Ohio and went to Iowa. Does anyone know why? A lot of my family that wasn't even related to each other did the same. Sandra

Hi New subscriber Al Dawson in Berea, Ohio, looking for information on my ancestors: Abraham BAER/BAIR (c.1766-1846) and his wife Sarah (c.1768-c.1820s) whose daughter Hannah married John Patrick Creighton c. 1823 in Stark County.
Does anyone know how to find the date of death of an individual in Stark Co. after 1946? Specifically, I am looking for the date of death of William Lantz who I believe may have died in 1947. I am trying to trace his children, Florence and Nora, but do not know their married names. The online death certificate index does not pick up anything that recent, and it occurred before the Social Security Death Index records. I called the city who told me I needed a date of death to pull a death certificate. I was told he could be buried in Warstlers cemetery, but find no record there and was only given the date of August 1947. His wife's name was Lena or Helena. I am making little headway with his grandfather's family, and hope to track down a living descendant. Any help would be greatly appreciated Leon Lants - Little Rock, AR

Has anyone ever heard of a farm implement company in Massilon or elsewhere in Stark County named Taylor-Aultman-Miller or some variation? My Miller and Taylor relatives supposedly ran such a company in the late 1800's. Carla Miller Davis

My gggrandfather was killed in a railway accident In Clyde, Wayne cty. N.Y. on Oct. 13, 1874. He was a track laborer and was driving the hand car and when he pushed down on the handle , it broke, throwing him onto the track where the hand car passed over him, killing him instantly. His name was John Kerrigan (misspelled as Carrigan) in the newspaper account in the Clyde Times issue of 10/15/1874. Is there a linkup somewhere where I can contact the railroad historian of N.Y. or Wayne county. Thanks, Grace
My Stark County ancestors are John and Mary(Polly)TAYLOR BOYER. They lived on a farm near Canton, arriving there from Harrisburg, PA. Polly died 5 May 1869 (age 56) and is buried in a small cemetery on private property near Louisville, Ohio in Nimishillin TWP. Her son, Henry BOYER age 15 is buried near her, as is her daughter Elizabeth BOLLINGER (w/o Benjamin BOLLINGER). John married twice after Polly's death, then died in February 1892. He is buried in an unmarked grave near Louisville beside his second wife, of whom I know nothing. I am seeking any information I can find on this family. They are my gggrandparents. I'd appreciate corresponding with anyone who may know this family or be researching the same branch. I will share anything of interest.
Keith, Thanks for the information... obviously, there couldn't have been too many people living in Limaville in the 1850's when the EDNEY family first arrived there. It would be interesting to see if there is any information on Limaville -- the community, during that time.
