I am trying to find the address of a church - Chapel of Cross United Methodist Church, in Stark Co. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Joyce UK.
Hi, I recently received a photograph with the following caption printed underneath: Robert LEGG, East Greenfield, Ohio, is President of the old reliable Massillon Sub-District, also Executive Board Member of the Ohio Dist. United Mine Workers of America. Mr. LEGG was born in England, and his early training there in Unionism has aided him in the home of his choice, where he is known for his active work, his quiet demeanor, his knowledge of mining affairs, and for his success in handling them. Preventing the use of enlarged coal screens, and securing the eight-hour work day for the hoisting engineers in his Sub-District during the past year, are two things of note due to Mr. LEGG's hard and persistent effort. As an official Mr. LEGG has been a success, and his continued re-election to office demonstrates that his constituents appreciate his worth. Can anyone tell me what kind of work the President of a Sub-District would do? And does anyone know any Massillon archives addresses that I could write to for more information? I'm sure there will have been more stuff written about this man, I just don't know where. Thanks in advance. Regards, Joyce. North Shields, UK.

Many of you may already have this site bookmarked; if not, this a great site with links to various world area historical maps, including US, Europe - you name it, it may very likely be there [maps that are free to download for personal use] http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/PCL/Map_collection/map_sites/hist_sites.html#US If you have just started out with your genealogy searches, these maps are particularly useful to show changes over the years of territories. Genealogy really ends up being a historical and a geographical study to get the full picture of the time, life, and lands your ancestors lived in. Have fun!

Dian, I have been trying to find references in Stark County, OH, for the following: Mathias Cox (named changed from Kocks upon arrival in US about 1898) married to Wilhemina Weller. Herman Mathias Cox (son of above) b. 1880 in Oberhauser, Germany, m. Edna May McKergin in Massilon Oct 29, 1904. Both died in New Jersey, but I am looking for any other reference and marriage certificate. Siblings of Herman, Mary, Minnie, Helen G, Ann, Bill and Freddie. Any reference to any of these or any children of them will be appreciated. Believe they all stayed in the Massilon area. Also looking for Starkey, Harry and Helen or any children of them. Hi, Does anyone have access to cemetery records for Lawrence Twp.? I'm trying to find out if there is a John Conard buried in the area. He was born on Oct. 12, 1801 in VA but I believe he may have died in this part of Ohio. Looking for a death date between 1860-1870 or so, which is only a guess. Would appreciate any help. Thanks, Sandy
